Peggy's Cove is a quaint fishing village featured in many artist paintings and photographs. Approximately 50 residents live there year round. The stunning rock formations are granite rocks estimated to be 415 million years old. These huge boulders were picked up and deposited 10 thousand years ago by retreating glaciers. William degarthe carved a lasting monument to fishermen in the granite rock depicting 32 fishermen, their wives, children and the legendary Peggy of Peggy's Cove. Near here is the site where a monument was built in memory of the victims of the Swiss Air crash off the coast of Peggy's Cove.
