Our trip
to Costa Rica with Tauck Tours took us to the Pacific Coast
and Rain Forest of this country, staying in a resort located
on the Pacific Ocean , one located at 5,000 feet in the
Rain Forest to another in the dryer portion of the Rain
Forest. There was great diversity in not only the weather,
but the plants and wildlife there. This is the end of their
dry season and soon the rivers we floated on will rise some
25 feet or more to breach their banks and flood the area.
Costa Rica is a country with a large middle class which
has been greatly influenced by the production of coffee.
Land was given to farmers who agreed to grow coffee. This
was a trip filled with fun adventures from horseback riding
to the top of the zip lines, floating down 2 rivers viewing
wildlife, beautiful trees, plants and hiking in a Cloud
Forest (seeing a pair of Quetzal Birds which haven't been
spotted for over 10 years). I spent much of my time chasing
birds, butterflies and hummingbirds which are almost impossible
to capture. Many of the flowers and plants I have not been
able to identify so they have not been labeled. If you know
what they are I would love to know and add it to the picture.
